PanhandleRelief.org receives $20K from CGMTA for
Hurricane Michael Relief
Destin, FL – Hurricane Michael relief efforts received a much-needed boost recently. The Central Gulf Marine Trades Association made a $20,000 donation to OneWater Marine’s PanhandleRelife.org.
“The CGMTA recognizes that our friends in Panama City and Mexico Beach still need our help and attention. We hope that our support of the Panhandle Relief Fund will get money into the hands of people still struggling to put their lives back together in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. Hurricane recovery lasts for months and years after a storm devastates a community. We are grateful for the generosity of our members,” President John Fitzgerald, Saunders Yachtworks.
The CGMTA is a non-profit organization created to represent the recreational marine industry by promoting the strength of the regional boating environment; advocating on issues that affect the boating community; and providing networking opportunities for its members. It is comprised of members from all aspects of the marine industry.
PanhandleRelief.org in partnership with Catholic Charities of Northwest Florida, has helped thousands of individuals with long term recovery. This assistance has included, but not limited to, home repairs, debris removal, and basic needs such as food and shelter. Over $300,000 has been raised and well over 39,000 volunteer hours have supported these efforts.
“There is still so much need, and the recovery will take years. We are making a dent with the assistance of wonderful people like the members of CGMTA, and our partners at Catholic Charities. We have received donations from all over the country, and from many of our friends in the marine industry. We hope people will not forget about our neighbors to the East. Some areas look exactly as they did one year ago today,” Peggy King, Regional Marketing Manager for OneWater Marine.
The recovery from this hurricane will take years. PanhandleRelief.org was started directly after the storm and promised to be there for the long haul.
